Splits on first 2.5 were 6:39 (uphill and major headwind) 6:07, and 2:59. (6:18 avg pace) 2nd one was 5:59, 6:14, 2:50. (6:01 avg pace-this set was mostly downhill) and 2 mile was 5:52, 6:24. (6:08 avg pace) Final 400 was 1:21...Felt great today for once!!! (It's been a while) Yeay! I think fartleks are my favorite type of run.. Wed, 16 May 2012 06:00:00 Tue, May 15, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-15-2012.html 7.25 ez on the mill today... Tue, 15 May 2012 06:00:00 Mon, May 14, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-14-2012.html Did a track workout today... I wasn't sure how fresh my legs would be from my 19 miler on Saturday-but they actually felt better than I would have thought.. Did 3x1 miles and 1x800 with 400 jog (3:00) in between. Splits were 5:49,5:50,5:49 and my 800 was 2:45.. Pretty happy with today's splits-. Went to the Dr after to get more blood work done to test my thyroid levels and found out I have fluid in my middle ears that hasn't drained from my cold that I have had for 4 weeks now...That explains why I feel like I can't hear very well and my ears won't pop.. He put me on Zyrtec D-to try and dry me up-and if that doesn't work he has a stronger perscription he wrote for me..Hopefully it does the job!!! I just want to be completely back to normal and healthy! (I have never in my life had a cold last as long as this one! lol!) Mon, 14 May 2012 06:00:00 Sat, May 12, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-12-2012.html Long run of 19 today.. This run wasn't the greatest for me...I battled a bad side ache for the first 3-4 miles and then it came back around mile 14.. (What? I never get side aches?!) I ran 15 outside with one water stop at mile 11.. Then 4 more on the treadmill.. Pace for the first 15 was 7:23, pace for 4 on the mill was 7:25-30. I lost 6 lbs of water weight on this run so I think I was dehydrated... This was definitely one of the hardest runs for me mentally and physically-I wanted to call it a day at mile 11 when I had my water stop-but I knew that mentally I needed to finish at least 19 so even as bad as it hurt I am glad I persevered and finished:) (Funny how I felt amazing last week on my 18 miler and not so great today!!-Gotta love the ups and downs of running) Sat, 12 May 2012 06:00:00 Thu, May 10, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-10-2012.html
1 mile warm up. Then did a 7 mile tempo..(First mile downhill and the rest at the track)
Splits were 6:10, 6:34, 6:38, 6:43, 6:46, 6:43, 6:28..(6:34 avg pace overall) Felt tired today..Wanted to keep my pace under 6:30-but that didn't happen.. I was a little upset as my splits kept getting slower-but I couldn't make my legs go faster.. It was a good effort-but I was hoping for a little better.. (Before St George I was running 6:20 pace for 7 mile tempos-obviously I am not in as good as shape as then, but I am bummed I wasn't a little faster today) Oh well-I guess I will kick it in high gear the next 2-3 weeks and then taper...
Thu, 10 May 2012 06:00:00 Wed, May 09, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-09-2012.html 5 ez on the mill Wed, 09 May 2012 06:00:00 Tue, May 08, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-08-2012.html
Did a track workout today...(It's been a long time since I have done a real track workout and I was a little scared) 1.5 mile warm up then 2 sets of 1 mile, 800, 400, with 400 jog in between each and 800 jog in between sets...Splits were 5:54, 2:47, 1:16...Second set was 5:51, 2:46, 1:13.. Felt pretty tired today-(like I was working really hard to hit the times) but I am happy with my splits.. (I guess I should feel tired since this was my first real track session in a long time) UVM is only a month away from tomorrow!!

Tue, 08 May 2012 06:00:00 Mon, May 07, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-07-2012.html
5 miles in 7:24...Tired today-legs a little tired from Saturday's long run
Mon, 07 May 2012 06:00:00 Sat, May 05, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-05-2012.html Did a long run of 18 outside today...Ran 12 at 7:15 avg pace, then tried picking it up some for the last 6 miles...Splits for last 6 were 6:30,6:55,6:24,6:48,7:29,7:32 (last 2 uphill) 6:55 avg for pickup miles...7:08 avg pace over the whole run..(Did have one gu/potty stop 10 miles in).. Overall felt really great today...The last 2 miles were really hard, although they were uphill...At this point my legs were starting to feel pretty tired-but lungs felt great. Sat, 05 May 2012 06:00:00 Thu, May 03, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-03-2012.html Got up this morning and did 3x2 miles with .5 jog in between. First two were downhill 6:05 and 6:00. Next two were at the track..My watch got a little messed up-but I think they were 6:12,6:18..Last two were back home-uphill at 7:00, 6:49..(definitely alot slower-but also uphill) I was hoping for my track miles to be a bit faster-but overall I am happy with the workout.. Thu, 03 May 2012 06:00:00 Wed, May 02, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-02-2012.html 5 miles today... The elementary school was having their 2 mile run and I paced my friend's 4th grader this morning. He ran 14:24 for 2 miles (some uphill) and finished 5th overall..I was proud of him-7:12 pace is pretty good for a 4th grader.. This little race was so fun to watch and it made me excited to run with my kids in the future..Did 3 more on the treadmill when I came home... Wed, 02 May 2012 06:00:00 Tue, May 01, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-01-2012.html
Ran outside today. Did 2 sets of 5,3,1 hard with 1 minute jog in between each...Paces for first one were 5:00 at 5:47 pace, 3:00 at 5:40, 1:00 at 4:57, the next set was 5:00 at 5:57, 3:00 at 6:12, 1:00 at 5:34... First set of these was pretty downhill/aided. I still am trying to get rid of this cold-(it keeps lingering) so I was happy with the effort today.. Hopefully I can get this body back into the swing of things..
Tue, 01 May 2012 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 30, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-30-2012.html 5 miles outside at 7:12 pace....Hubby had today off-so I ran later and it was too hot! already 70 degrees. Mon, 30 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 28, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-28-2012.html
Haha...As you can see from the crazy distance-the dreaded nightmare happened and I got lost on the course today..Details below...

Plan today was to not worry about time and just run however my body was feeling..(I have been sick all week with a terrible cough/cold/flu so I didn't have big expectations). I also knew going in that my time would be slow considering 80% of this course is in the dirt and hills. There was also 750 ft feet of elevation change-although the start and finish are at the same spot. (Picture the desert-brown dirt and pinon trees-that is where this course was-lol) Got to the starting line and it was a super small race-maybe 100 people-split between a 5k and 10k.. Gun went off and my first split was 6:35...I was ahead at the mile but 2 guys followed closely behind. 2 mile split was 6:56, at this point the guy behind me threw in a surge to run side by side with me and he stayed that way for a minute and then completely died off. On the course there are signs with arrows saying where to go and around the 2.5 mile mark there was a sign saying to turn right and I did-but I turned right onto the road-not the dirt trail... There was a lady directing there-and she didn't even say anything to me!... Boo...Anyway-I ran on my merry way and after going about .4 on the road I looked back to see where the guy was and he was no where in sight. Crap! He must have really died or I must have missed a turn-I decided on the latter and turned around and ran .4 back and realized I was supposed to go on the trail instead of the road. I was bummed-but oh well what could I do?...Maybe I can start picking people off I thought...This part of the course was a trail going up and down hills and making quite a few turns. Slowly but surely I started picking people off. 1 girl, then two, then 3, then about a half mile before the finish I passsed the 4th or 5th girl. I had no clue if there were any other girls ahead of me...Anyway, I kicked it in a little for the last .92 which was downhill-but my splits for miles 3-7 were pathetic...7:37, 7:04, 7:58, 7:02 and 5:49 for .92. lol..At least I was still the first girl..(not much competition in Farmington as you can see) Anyway-they gave me a 50 visa gift card and I won a great harvest bread basket...Not too shabby...My body did feel extremely tired today-but at least the coughing waited until after the race to start..I'm hoping next week I can have more "quality miles" and get down to business.. Fingers crossed it will be a much better week...

Here's to no more getting lost...lol

Sat, 28 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 26, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-26-2012.html Took the kids to the park today and attempted a little bit of speed. I didn't know how it would go considering how terrible I have felt this week. I did 1 mile at 5:52, 400 jog- then an 800 at 2:56... That is all my body would allow me to do..I was happy with my splits-but this workout was really hard mentally and physically for me..The first half of each interval I felt fine-but then the fatigue started setting in and it was hard to finish...After I could not stop coughing. I am really getting sick of this thing!!! It has been a long time since I have been this sick. I have a 10k on Saturday-I really want to race it-but I may have to do it for fun if this keeps up...booo Thu, 26 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 25, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-25-2012.html Did 5 outside at 7:22 pace..Felt a little better than yesterday-but lungs and throat still burned pretty badly..Body felt tired today. Sickness-please leave me now so I can do some serious training...Also did 5 strides. Wed, 25 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 24, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-24-2012.html Back in the states today...Still trying to adjust from the jet lag and this terrible cold/flu. 4 ez miles on the mill today.....Coughed like a mad man after the first mile-then it subsided a little. Body feels terrible right now so I did not push it. Tue, 24 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 21, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-21-2012.html

I was planning on getting a good run in today-we flew back to Manilla and I was going to run on the treadmill-but woke up this morning with a temperature and terrible head/throat cold-so I passed on running.
Sat, 21 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 19, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-19-2012.html Ran around the resort in the thick sand again and hot humidity. This time I attempted some speed-lol! After a short warm up I did 8x400s with .15 jog in between. Fast bits were around 7:00 pace...I know...not so fast-but I felt like it was still a good workout in the thick sand....People had to think I was crazy-dripping from sweat attempting to do speed in the sand...Lol- Thu, 19 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 18, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-18-2012.html From Manilla we took a small flight to Palowan and stayed on an island just off of Palowan...It was so beautiful. Anyway at the resort there was no where to run-but I just made do the best I could. It was only 200 meters around the whole resort and it was thick white sand-so I ran around the resort a couple hundred times to make 5 miles. It was really tough running in the thick sand and the hot humidity!! I wasn't used to it at all and was sweating out of every pore by the end!! My avg pace was only 8:55! Lol! Wed, 18 Apr 2012 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 16, 2012 http://Christi.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-16-2012.html
Time to update my blog...Ran on my aunt's treadmill today in the Philippines..(My husband served his mission in the Phillippines 12 yrs ago and has always wanted to take me back-and ironically my aunt and uncle got called as mission president's over his exact mission so we decided now was the perfect time to go) Anyway-I alternated 5x400s and 5xhills with .25 jog in between. The 400s were each at 6:00 pace and the hills were at 6.0 incline and 7:00 pace. This was a good workout-and I was hot and overheated by the end....

Mon, 16 Apr 2012 06:00:00
