Got up and ran Farmington's first annual turkey trot. I wasn't expecting very many people to show up and was pleasantly surprised when I learned 250 signed up. I was expecting to have fun with this race (It has been so long since I have done a 5k-but I also wanted to push it.) Warmed up for about a mile and a half or so and it was time to start. My first split was 5:49-(flat to slight downhill) At this point there were no other girls around and about 8 boys in front of me. My 2nd split was 6:37 (major uphill!!!-137 ft climb) Here I passed a couple boys-I don't think they were very happy to have me pass. On the last mile I was battling with a guy-I would cruise past him on the downhill and he would catch up to me on the up. Split was 6:03-(rolling hills) He ended up sprinting past me right as we crossed the finish line. (I didn't even know he was coming) I ended up 5th (I think) over everyone. My garmin shows the course being .09 too short so in theory I would add 33 seconds on for the last .09 to make my real time 19:03. I usually go by my garmin bc it is usually right on. Overall I was happy with my time-especially considering the hills. (Farmington definitely doesn't have a shortage of hills!:) I went home to shower bc it said awards weren't until 11:30-got back and they were already over!!!  (I guess they decided to do them early:()At least they still had my prize which included two giftcards-not too shabby! Looking forward to Orem's earn your turkey race on Thursday.

Um, you think the boys weren't happy that you passed them. Let me just assure you that they were not happy at all.

Good luck Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving.
