Did the South Valley half marathon in Herriman today. (starts in rose canyon and ends in daybreak) ANyway-it went pretty well. (I wanted to get into the hobble creek half-but missed signing up on time so I chose to do this one.) This was a small race (only around 300 runners total) and I finished first overall girl and 4th person in overall. This was a pretty challenging course due to the 3 or so miles of uphill-with no break. Anyway-the first 4 miles were downhill and my splits were 6:00, 6:05, 6:10, 6:20 (I was feeling really good and relaxed) At this point I was the first girl and there was a group of two or three guys behind me-the next guy in front of me had a huge lead on me) the next 3-4 miles were uphill starting with a gradual uphill and getting steeper (the last mile of hill was about a 200 foot climb) Splits were 6:53, 7:17 (at this point the guy by me fell back so I was running totally solo), 7:31 (major uphill) and 7:22. I was very happy to crest the hill! The next 6 miles were slight downhill and I just concentrated on getting in a rythm. My splits were 6:11, 6:26, 6:24, 6:17, 6:23, .25=5:55 pace.  I clocked my time as 1:26:43, but the official time said 1:27:09. (How were the times that far off?) Also this course was 13.25 miles not 13.1 miles-so if I was going based on my garmin this would have been a pr and my time was 1:25:48 at 13.1 miles. Oh well......Anyway-I was happy with it and got some free altra running shoes for first. It was good training for my marathon coming up-I just wished I could have ran with more people so I wasn't running solo the whole time.

Wow, great time! Especially with those hills. 3 miles=ahhhhh! Don't you think your regular hill training has really paid off? Ya, go by your Garmin everytime because it is the one constant training tool you will use everytime and great for comparison. \

Congratulations Christi! Another impressive performance!

OH WOW!!! We all wondered who you were and where you came from. We heard Farmington, but we thought it was Farmington, Utah!

Nice job on the race. You are one speedy girl for sure. WOW. It was a tougher course than many of us thought it would be, the middle was tricky. But you pulled off a great race. I am so sad that it was LONG and messed with your PR. That stinks! And I wondered why the times were so off as well. I was the 1:50 pacer and I technically should have been in about 45 seconds early but instead it had me (and the one guy I brought the entire way) over 1:50. I was annoyed!

Congrats on a very solid race! I wish there had been more speedy people to keep you company! Let me know how you like those Altra shoes, I really want to try their new trail version coming out this fall.

What marathon are you running?

Thanks for the nice comments guys!! I appreciate it! Kelli-Too bad the race distance messed with your pacing time too! (nice job though! That would be tough to be a pacer) So far I have liked the altra shoes-they seem really comfortable and pretty light. I am running St George this fall! Any marathons for you??

I will be in St George as well, one last attempt at a little PR and then I think I will be retiring...I am old! Kidding, but I am tired of training and pushing all the time. I need a break. I will become a professional pacer or something! Or just run the races for the shirt.

Have you run St George before? With last years TOU plus your current performances, WOW, St George is going to be a FAST race for you. I am excited to see how well you do. I think one year I need to run this race and instead go and watch all the speedy women come in. SO FUN!

Good to hear about the Altra shoes. I keep telling them to make me a pink pair and I will be ALL IN!

Thats awesome you will be at St George too! I'm sure you will do great you have some speedy times too! I've never ran St George-but I hear its a fast course. Good luck to you...Yeah-the Altra shoes would be alot cuter in pink!! (I think I will be taking a break after St George too!)

They will be adding pink to their repertoire, or so I have been told!

Best of luck to you in St George, hope to catch a glimpse of you there. It is a great course, my favorite.
